A Day Full of Blessings

A Day Full of Blessings

I have been convinced for the past few years that I should have an Honorary Medical Degree for all that I have learned about the human body through injuries. I am pretty good when it comes to a diagnosis, and reading film, knowing my muscles….I usually walk into my orthopedist’s office and say “here’s what it is…..” and 90% of the time hit the nail on the head.

I think my “degree” has been kicked up a notch the past 3 days in my 2 visits to Synergy Release Therapy. I have learned more in 2 visits than I have in over 4 months of other therapies, and it’s so exciting….especially because it’s working!! It is hard to describe what SRT is-really a combination of treatments: chiropractice, massage, laser, excercies….but the KEY is the order in which problems developed, are revealed, and subsequently treated.
The doctors asked me what my goal is “to RUN”; they’re response “we want you running as soon as possible, within 4-6 visits, and don’t want you to waste and time and money”. Music to my ears :)

Here is what I have learned: the SIJ problem began months and months ago on the bike (not unusual); the left SIJ has been locked. My left leg is quite a bit shorter than the right. The body’s natural response to the length difference is for the left leg to turn out while walking/running to make up for the difference (even with orthotics). Well, when this was happening, while pulling on a joint that didn’t move, it had to pull harder and harder until finally-horrible pain/strain/spasm.
So, now they mobilize, eliminate scar tissue, strengthen weak areas, and I run….and then race with my awesome teammates!!!
I firmly believe that all tough times are learning experiences and this is no different!

Shorlty after arriving home I had a surprise evening visit (because he usually comes in the morning) from Mr FedEx!!!
Trakkers, Saucony, you are AMAZING. Huge blessings and I am truely, truely honored.
I am very sad not to be racing in 2 weeks, but am happy I can be in Knoxville to cheer for my team, and I also have many friends traveling from Atlanta to race, so I can critique :)
And I hope everyone racing thinks about how very blessed we are to be able to compete in such a cool sport.
I hope to join you at the start line soon!! My Saucony Fastwitch shoes are chomping at the bit :)

Yet another blessing…my Kestrel Road bike is ready to roll! Can’t wait to cruise around, with matching Trakkers green on clothing, bike frame and tires!
And while I was being fit, Matt from All3 Sports and I had a nice conversation about how much we love First Endurance Ultragen. I can talk FE all day! I hope Mr FedEx comes again tomorrow with my recent order.
