To Race Or to Not Race
Here I sit, staring at my new, beautiful Saucony Hurricanes. I even bought my favorite shoe laces in a matching color to pimp out these shoes for my next race. These shoes feel so great on my feet and they’re so pretty it’s almost a shame to get them dirty. Unfortunately, things aren’t quite going right on my end. I’ve been battling with this “Turf Toe” injury for over 2 months now. I’ve tried everything I’ve been told to get rid of it and it’s just not working fast enough. Stop running. Right. Have you just met me? But really, I went from running 4 days a week to 1 day every other week…and just 3-4 miles!
So how on earth am I going to do a Half Ironman in just under 2 weeks? I have no idea. I could swim and bike and call it a day…but could I? I don’t want the season to end, but I also don’t feel much like racing when I know I’m not anywhere near healthy. It’s a struggle. But if this is the worst of my problems, I shouldn’t be complaining, right?
