Race Season is here!

Somehow it snuck up on me.  Though I’ve been thinking about my race season since December, time has just flown by and now my first triathlon of the season is just around the corner.  I’m not ready!  Wait – it’s not warm enough yet!  I’ve only been on my bike maybe 3 times this year.  Can I get a little more time?

This happens every year.  I can’t wait, I can’t wait, I can’t wait to race again.  The hours move to days, the days move to weeks, the weeks move to month and then – here it is, what I’ve been waiting for!  But it’s so SOON!  I need the early morning long rides in the bright sunshine.  I need the long hot, humid runs.  Those are the things that tell me I’ve put in the work to be ready to perform.  But none of that has happened yet.  The weather has not cooperated.  It’s been cold, windy or rainy just about every weekend.  Though the long runs have happened, I think I’ve worn shorts maybe once or twice.

Yesterday, I was able to get in a solid long ride in my new Trakkers kit on my race-ready Kestrel.  Man, that bike fits like a glove.  I have some time to put in to get used to being aero again, but boy is he smooth!  I had a great ride and will be ready this weekend.  If it’s hot, not sure how I’ll handle that since it’s been a long time since I raced in heat.  But if it’s hot, I’ll deal with it then.

Let’s go.
