2009 Flies When You’re Having Fun!
Whew! 2009 ended up being so much more than I ever imagined. I guess its natural to reflect this time of year. As I look back I see an incredible number of things which I expect to remember for the rest of my life. No one accomplishes these things by themselves. I feel incredibly blessed to have family and friends who support me, encourage me, even drag me into things I love to do.
I’m an engineer, so I have to do these things in some order, chronologically seem appropriate…
JANUARY
- Catalina Island 50 Mile Run – never (up to about oct 08) thought I’d run a step father than 26.2… so much for that.
- Snowshoe racing – somehow didn’t hurt as much this year, maybe all the 30+ mile runs.
FEBRUARY
- Stupid Dash for Stupid Cash – Pulled both quads. I’m an endurance athlete, I shouldn’t be sprinting for anything, certainly not in snowshoes.
MARCH
- 8K swim – IN A POOL !!, longest swim of the year.
APRIL
- Rage 1/2 IM – Season opener in (okay, near) Las Vegas.
- Rim to Rim to Rim – Yup, ran across the Grand Canyon and back in one day. I never would have imagined this one!
- Epic Loop X2 – The first of our long bike rides, 120 mi + 13,000 ft.
MAY
- Lincoln 1/2 Marathon
