Who/what shares your home with you: My wife Lori, dog Winnie, and soon to be(Christmas Day due date) new born baby boy, Cole.
Years in triathlon:
6 years
Where do you stand on coffee:
I only started drinking coffee two years ago, ironically enough, at the same time I started training for my first full iron distance! Gotta have it every morning now. 2 creams, no sugar!
Favorite race:
I enjoy racing new races I’ve never done before. Racing the same races year in and year out gets boring and everyone needs a new challenge from time to time. The half-iron race has quickly become my favorite distance though as it still allows one to maintain SOME order of a “normal” social life! However, there is just so much I love about the mental aspects of the full-iron distance!
What’s one trait that you hate about yourself:
I have noticed as I have gotten older I have a ridiculous problem with making decisions. My co-workers have nicknamed me “the shopper” because I can online shop for days on end without ever buying a thing. This makes being spontaneous extremely difficult and buying gifts for special occassions has to begin at least a month in advance. It’s paralyzing!
Favorite pre-race food:
Bagel with Peanut Butter.
Chocolate or salted chips?
Chocolate most definitely!
Triathlon goals for 2010:
I really want to go sub 4:30 at a half-iron distance race this year. I am not a big fan of saying I would like to podium because those goals are sometimes out of one’s control. This year will be a year of focusing on the half-distance and I feel a 4:30 or better is a comfortable stretch goal to send the year chasing!
Advice you would give to a new triathlete:
Don’t be afraid of taking things slow and ease yourself into longer distance racing. Not everyone wants or needs to compete in long distance racing and that’s ok. Building a few years of base endurance may help in the long run and quite honestly it MIGHT just be more fun!

"shine on, sweet simplicity."
I guess I haven’t kept it much of a secret that as of late I’ve been going through some very personal “challenges” right now. Although I am comfortable saying I’ve got me some “challenges” right n...
