My goal for 2010 is to find balance for my athletic endeavors and life!  I have enjoyed dedicating much of my life to triathlon these last 7 seven years as an undergraduate and graduate student with no real responsibilities, but I recently transitioned into the “big-girl” world with my new marriage, full-time+ job teaching at a University, and buying a home, so 2010 will be a year of adjustment for me!  While I have no specific athletic goals for 2010, I still plan to compete and will be working hard on my weakness – swimming, workout consistency, and muscular strength in order to build a solid base going into 2011!!!!

Who/what shares your home with you:

My hot husband Dan Wheatley and our little dog, a Vizsla named Winston!

Years in triathlon:

7

Where do you stand on coffee:

It makes me happy and brightens my day!  A must-have!

Favorite race:

The American Triple-T or REV3 Quassy.  I LOVE a quad-screaming, hilly challenge!

What’s one trait that you hate about yourself:

I take on too much at once and get VERY stressed out as a result.  I’m working on it!

Favorite pre-race food:

Ummm, coffee??  I will also go into a race with a much brighter attitude if I was lucky to have pancakes or waffles (preferably a nutty variety with bananas!)

Chocolate or salted chips?

Mmmmm in the winter- chocolate chocolate, but in the summer SALTY chips!

Advice you would give to a new triathlete:

Keep it fun – remember why you started training in the first place !  If you start dreading a workout- remember how awesome it feels to push your body, and how accomplished and
fabulous you feel afterward!  Don’t keep the “triathlon” aspect of your life to yourself – share it with your friends and family- it’s a great motivator! Take the kids on workouts with you (you run, they bike and hand you water), do indoor workouts with your spouse, use the Trakkers device and let them track you during workouts and races!  Take them to REV3 events with you-
there is fun to be had for the WHOLE family, thus making it a fun trip for all!
