Jeff grew up in New Hampshire and started ski racing (alpine, cross country and jumping) at a very early age. He began racing mountain bikes at age 15 as a way to train through the summer and eventually, skiing became a way to stay fit for mountain biking in the summer. After skiing at the university level for one season (and realizing he wasn’t as good a skier as he thought he was), biking became his main focus and began racing for GT Bicycles and had a number of successes in road and mountain bike racing.
After racing heavily on and off-road for several years through undergraduate and law school with several national level results, Jeff decided to look for a broader range of adventure and started orienteering and adventure racing while living in the Lake Tahoe area of Nevada. He continued adventure racing after moving back to the east coast, finishing in the top 25 at the USARA 24-Hour National Championships and racing in several solo adventure races before joining the Remington-Mountain Khakis/Trakkers Adventure Racing Team.
He still races frequently on his bike during the spring, summer and fall and participates in orienteering events through the winter to keep his navigation skills sharp. In 2010, he upgraded to the pro mountain bike category and began racing for Scott Bicycles.
